For literacy during 2 weeks we have been doing a project on Matariki and we have to write a non-fiction text, a fiction text, a other text and our choice which is picking one of those and doing it again. I decided that I would put all my work in one blog post.
This is my non- fiction text.
Questions I researched:
What cultures have similar stories about Matariki?
In Japan, it is called Subaru. In India, it is called Krittika.
How do you say Happy Matariki in Māori?
Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori.
What colours represent Matariki?
Black which represents the night sky and the darkness from which the new year starts, blue symbolises the sky and the connection between the earth and the heavens during Matariki. White which represents purity and new beginnings, reflecting the start of a new year.
These are my 2 fiction texts. I chose to do 2 of these because they were the easiest in my opinion.
Something lost 1
Elmer gets abducted by a serial killer when she was two for nine years, the police search drops, everybody loses hope except Elmer’s mum. Elmer’s mum calls out for Elmer every night whilst Elmer is in the basement. Elmer escapes from the serial killer. As she’s running away she runs into a rapist then she escapes from him and runs into the killer again, he says “Hey Elmer, you ready to get put in the grinder?” She says “NO!” and runs but he catches up and shoves her in the grinder. She died. The End.
Something lost 2
Agatha is a bit rude, no one likes her. Agatha goes for a walk and Aaliyah finds her. Aaliyah is one of the people that hates Agatha the most. Aaliyah has a plan to kidnap Agatha. Her plan goes into action. She runs up behind her, puts a black bag over her face and shoves her in her van. She drives to an abandoned warehouse. Throws her in the warehouse, grabs her oven out of the van and shoves Agatha in it. Aaliyah takes her out when she’s not quite dead but very burnt. She tapes her to the wall and throws darts at her, down her throat and in her eyes. Aaliyah rips the tape off her and the wall and buries her alive ( sort of ). The End.
This is my other text. Except it’s not a text because it didn’t have to be.
